The Toronto Pride Parade is a vibrant and colorful celebration of LGBTQ2S+ community that takes place annually in the city of Toronto, Canada. This year is no exception. Thousands of people gathered in downtown Toronto to participate in and support Pride Parade. The huge crowds cheering the participants are a testimony to the inclusiveness of the city. For all the newcomers and potential immigrants, it may be heartening to know that this city and the entire country as a whole take pride in their support of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Known as one of the largest Pride events in the world, Toronto Pride Parade brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate and advocate for the rights and equality of the LGBTQ+ community. With its rich history, diverse cultural fabric, and inclusive atmosphere, the Toronto Pride Parade has become an iconic event that showcases the city’s commitment to diversity and acceptance.

The parade is supported by various government and non-government organizations which send their contingents, bands and floats to participate in it. Many corporates and start-ups from various sectors of the city economy participated in this year’s parade. Some examples included CIBC, BMO, PwC, Merck, and goeasy. Many government or government-supported organisations were also there including GO Travel and TTC. Medical and paramedical staff were also participating in good numbers including from the University Health Network and paramedic associations of Toronto and Peel regions.

One thing which will be pleasantly surprising for many of our readers who are from relatively conservative countries is the fact that religious organizations also sent their members in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Anglican church overall and many individual churches were present. Contingents from political parties were also there.

Looneytooney.ca team spoke to various Newcomers on their first impressions of the Parade. As expected many people were pleasantly surprised. Some others were a little shocked 🙂

“This is my first year attending Toronto Pride Parade. I moved to Toronto six months ago and work for a fintech startup here. Our company sent a contingent and many of my colleagues are a part of that. This made me interested to visit. I am so pleasantly surprised to see people from different backgrounds coming together and supporting the gay and lesbian community. I cannot imagine this happening in Delhi, India, from where I have moved recently.
