Process and Timeline of an LMIA Application
Phase 1: Document Gathering and Review
We share the document checklist with the employer. Employer provides business and financial information to be able to prove their financial ability to afford the employee. We do thorough due diligence on the documentation as that ensures smooth sailing ahead.
Timeline: ~2 weeks
Phase 2: Job Advertisements & LMIA application preparation
We prepare the job advertisement and after approval from the employer post it on multiple portals. We also create a job bank profile for the employer. The job postings have to be active for at least 40 days. Simultaneously, we prepare the LMIA application
Timeline: 6 weeks
Phase 3: LMIA application submission
We review the LMIA application with the employer before submission. After submission, the employer may get a call from the relevant authority to check the validity of the application. We prepare the employer to ensure they answer all the questions correctly.
Timeline: Application approval timeline varies from 2 to 4 months
Phase 4: LMIA Approved
Once the LMIA is approved, the employee can go ahead and apply for their work permit through Flagpole or the online application. LMIA is usually valid for 1 year and the employee gets up to 2 years work permit

FAQs regarding LMIA
Once all the documentation is ready from the employer’s end, we can complete the LMIA application submission in about 8 weeks. This includes the mandatory period during which the job advertisements should be active. The government can take anywhere up to 4 months to approve the application after submission.
No. There is no language test requirement to apply for LMIA
We charge our professional fee in the range of $3000 to $3500 + HST. Additionally, there is a government fee of $1000. Once the LMIA application is approved, there is a work permit application fee and a professional fee to apply for the work permit.
We will give you a detailed list of documents once you sign up with us. Broadly, the documents relate to the business financials and business licenses. Every business owner or their accountant has those documents with them.
