New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NBPNP Strategic Initiative Stream, you have to meet these criteria:

  • Applicants must be at least 19 years old at the time of submitting a complete application in response to an Invitation to Apply. The application submission date, not the registration date with New Brunswick PNP determines the age.
  • In all four language abilities: reading, writing, listening, and speaking, one needs a minimum score equivalent to NCLC 5 for French.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a genuine intention to reside in New Brunswick.
  • They must hold at least a Canadian secondary (high school) diploma or a foreign high school diploma equivalent to a Canadian credential, supported by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  • They are also needed to establish one of the following as a qualifying connection to New Brunswick.
  • Participate in an in-person exploratory visit to New Brunswick within 12 months before submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). This option is exclusively for candidates from outside Canada. If you have been a temporary resident in another province, you are not eligible for this.
  • Secure a job or have a genuine job offer from a New Brunswick employer.
  • Meet one of the New Brunswick PNP priorities:
    • Completed a degree within the past 6 months from either UniversitĂ© de Moncton or Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB).
    • Living in New Brunswick for a year while working remotely for a Canadian company located outside Quebec for the same duration.
    • Got a letter of interest from an NB Immigration Officer.
  • Settlement funds are not required for Open Work Permit holders with at least one year of Canadian work experience (TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program. Otherwise, proof of funds is necessary. Refer to the table above for details.

  • Should be gained over a minimum period of 12 months.
  • Must be paid. (Work from unpaid internships, volunteer experiences, and study programs like co-ops do not count as work experience.)
  • Needs to be backed by verifiable documents listed on the document checklist.
  • Must align with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) related to your job offer if you’re applying for a job.
  • Can be acquired from one or multiple employers.
  • Can be obtained within Canada and/or internationally.

5. Adaptability
